Stockport Council’s Hackathon invites you to suggest ideas and develop technical solutions to help citizens of Stockport connect with their wider community, for example to assist people to discover and connect with activities, events, organisations, and community groups they are interested in.

At the end of this event, all participants will be given the opportunity to present their ideas in front of their peers and a panel of judges including a representative from Government Digital Service (GDS) and others from the local tech community, Stockport Council and local businesses.

It’s a great opportunity to learn something new, enjoy making things with like-minded people within our digital community and use your skills to enrich the lives of others and improve the place you live in.

There will be great prizes for the winners and gifts for all those who take part. These are some of the potential prizes up for grabs at the Hackathon:

  • An Amazon Echo for each member of the winning team (courtesy of CDL)
  • Work experience working in an Agile software development environment, in Stockport Council’s Digital by Design team.
  • Potential for your idea to be supported into development by Stockport Council.

Food and drink is provided and it will look good on your CV!

We would like people to form teams of 4 but please let us know if you would like to come as an individual and we can link you with a team of other individuals at a later date.

Please bring your own technical equipment and power cables. Participants must be over 16 years old. For more details please see our blog. If you have any further questions please see our Frequently Asked Questions page.
